Seeing things up close and framing them, sometimes out of context, opens up a whole new world of images. Stark contrast of water droplets on a flower pedal, a singular splash of a colorful leaf on a dull backdrop of sand or path, the isolation of the moon hanging in the sky.
I particularly like shadows, lines, trying to get as close to animals as I can. Quiet paths framed by trees and rocks. Many times these things go unnoticed as they are but a small piece of a much larger scene.
Advice from my high school photography teacher has always stuck with me: When you think you have your picture, take a second to look behind you and look down. You never know what you might find.
