process + services

01 / Strategy

The dawn of your brand expedition includes a critical initial discovery phase. After our introductory consultation and meeting, you will receive a Strategic Brand Survey (SBS). This will allow me to understand the details of your business, learn your vision and goals, and bring out the distinctive aspects that will create the foundation of your unique brand from the ground up. See what makes a strong strategy here.

03 / Refinement

Once you have been presented with your brand, we will collaborate and distill the designs until they feel perfect to you. You will have two rounds to make refinements, which could be tweaks to the logo, adjustments to color(s), typography or whatever we've included in your personalized scope of work. Then you will see a final rendition for your approval.

02 / Design

When I receive the completed SBS (there might be a few follow-up or clarifying questions), I will apply this intelligence to create initial concepts and explorations and provide you with one brand identity concept that is original, clever, enduring and versatile. The concept presentation will provide examples of your new brand identity in action ... visual representations of your logo and other elements in environments suitable to your business.

04 / Delivery

When the designs have been approved, I will create final files and formats for you to begin rolling out. I will create a comprehensive Brand Guidelines that will provide a blueprint of best practices for using your new identity, so it stays true to your values and goals. This can be shared with vendors or other designers who will be working with your ongoing marketing materials, website, etc.

If any essential piece of the identity design process gets removed, the integrity of your brand becomes weakened.

All are necessary to build a strong brand that is recognizable, credible and withstands the erosion of time.

IF YOU NEED FRESH PERSPECTIVE AND IDEAS, MARK'S YOUR GUY. HE'S A STEADY PRESENCE ON A TEAM, FOCUSING ON AN END GOAL UNTIL IT'S REACHED. I'D RECOMMEND MARK FOR A DESIGN ROLE THAT LEVERAGES HIS CREATIVE SKILLS ON LARGER PROJECTS WHERE DEDICATED ATTENTION IS VALUABLE.

it's not an expense. it's an investment in your business and your future.

It's a cliché, but you've likely heard, "you get what you pay for." I have firsthand experience with several clients who have come to me after they paid for a cheap online logo. They regretted sidestepping the process to create a professional, carefully developed brand with meaning and versatility. The exquisite quality that goes into a potent brand takes time, research, strategy and attention to detail. Never underestimate consumers who can easily spot a poorly designed logo. That might indicate a business isn't to be taken seriously. Everything else being equal, perhaps a competitor's brand a bit more sophistication and quality that is more attractive and translates into more sales and return business.

What many people dismiss as "just a logo" actually misses all of the magic that goes on "behind the curtain." A professionally created brand system empowers you to have a say in how the world sees your product. Specifically crafted and tailored just for your business, and more importantly, your audience, a great logo is more likely to attract even more business. Like an artisan woodworker who has the tools, expertise, skill and creativity to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art with raw wood and command a high price, a brand designer also has the tools and experience to craft a custom symbol just for you. Consumers recognize when a piece of art or a logo has been created by an amateur.
